Wars of Religion

Wars of religion are never entered into. If memory serves and history is accounted for - there are wars that go beyond the pale of the conventional spectrum of conflict: unlimited, unrestricted wars.

Conversely, to think of peace is to think about people in human terms.

Religion ought to enable us to more closely reflect in our common humanity what makes the human family better belong. What commits to war and what commits to peace.

Christianity is not lacking in violent history.

Historically, where conflicts between Christians were the most terrible, it was always very much politically concerned. In those days, religious war was less an existential contradiction than a political pretext. So much was prevented by those conflicts...

Indeed, through whatever door it gains entry into the times - war seeks no other greater inspiration than violence. Once the killing starts, war becomes its own appearance upon our world.

These days, I hold to the view that keeps with the memory of those days: religion must never again be used as a weapon against other people.

Wars of religion fought by any which religion burns with the same relentless hate that burned our world in times past - and makes no promises it shall ever change.

In my remembrance, Christianity is not compatible with war and never was.

To me, all war is - is political. Religion can be political at times. But religion is also deeply human. War is not human and never was human. No terrorist claim will convince me otherwise.

The division in Islam and the divisions in Christianity arose from issues apart and distinct - but seems afflicted with the same vulnerability. This vulnerability - to the spirit of war - appears the same, and it exploits it the same also.

I do not know how these divisions will ultimately find their way again back into unity. I do know that unity is eternal. And were these divisions to remain in the domain of war, no nation will be able to contain its appearances as wars upon the earth. For in this day and age, war is not what it once was.

Nations are in spirit made simpler. For we on earth must live out a more complex reality.

All nations answer to the one, same human accounting - and, as its own labors of Country, allows the space for its peoples - oppressed by war - to build up the earth and to better their times. That war may flee where none pursueth.

The maturity of the peace of nations must be helped by religion.

For matters of religion must necessarily involve greater realities.

Salutation #202

(Blessed are the Peacemakers)

Peacemaker,

Consider how
War in Heaven abideth not.

Consider the choice
with which the Holy Angels chose
to freely honor the one LORD.

Consider how
Michael and his angels
fought against the Dragon and his angels;
how the Holy Angels turned away
form the lies of the Devil
and thus,
attained Peace
with the Eternal God.

Consider the Peace
that the Holy Angels attained
through the LORD, our one God,
and the everlasting Unity through which
the Devil and his corrupted angels
lost their place in Heaven
forever.

All children of the light
in Heaven and upon the Earth
are known as thus, peacemakers!

Therefore,
let us live not to contend against War
but to become united in the Truth.

Consider how
the Holy Angels
in knowing not the truth
in humility were vindicated
in the Truth.

As thus
did the Sky of Day
come restored
in Peace over War.

For not as judges
against each other in Heaven
did Michael and his Angels obtain
an everlasting Victory
over the Dragon and his corrupted angels
but through humility before the LORD.

Let us be builders
of human communities
and defenders of the peace!

Let us build
(especially as nations)
and let us do this together
that through human community
we may know what we may defend
in the peace we shall through God obtain
in behalf of each other's human good - forever!

Let us be united
(especially as nations)
in peace upon the earth
with good will in our hearts
before the LORD, our one God,
until War in all Creation
is no more.
---<--@

The war in heaven is in our hearts.

Heaven is not upon a distant sky or shore but in the soul, an intimate and limitless treasure.

It is not above, not below, not beyond our reality but very much closer by, within ourselves.

Palm Sunday 2014

Good evening, my beloved brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus the Lord:

I hope everybody had a blessed Palm Sunday! I know I certainly did.

I and my family have decided to make the most of Holy Week 2014. Indeed, I pray we all will.

As a matter of fact, my family and I have already worked out a daily schedule of activities. This is apart from my official schedule with my brother EMHCs at our Shrine.

It is a joy to discover what one can do with Jesus. Let me witness to each of you that in spite of my sins and despite of my weaknesses, our blessed Savior has never once failed me nor my family. Nada. Not a one.

Trouble with me always begins 100% - when I fail in my duties - communal or personal - to our God.

The health of my spiritual life is always a good indicator of the well being of my whole soul - this means my prayer life is always where I draw the line. And as regards my prayer life, my Queen is our Lady.

If prayer to a Catholic is battle, our Lady is warrior-in-chief. And Mary always leads to The Victory so we have to be sharp.

So there - most of our Holy Week activities are designed to sharpen our attitudes toward prayer. We have to be in love with the act of praying. Because prayer is an attitude of the heart. This is #1.

Because we seek God in prayer - if we are to know how to deepen our prayer life, we should learn to relate with God on a more intimate basis. We have to know the Father and there is no better way of knowing the Father than through the Son.

And so this is the reason for the season - everything that leads up to Easter, Jesus the Lord, designed for us, even here - in our own times, so we could maximize on knowing Who it is we have come to see, and Whose voice it is that constantly calls out to us, "Come and see".

That we may together discover that as Christians, our Lent is truly never without an Easter. And that this Longest Night shall not be without a Morning.

We, of the Laity, have a duty to initiate in ourselves the Spirit of the New Evangelization.

We, of the Laity, who Jesus Christ sent forth into deep water have a duty to honor and to make His peace more and more known in our present time, that His Kingdom may be in us and His good will among the Nations prevail for all Mankind.

We have something to give to our world. It is Love - the perfecting Covenant.

We are the children because we are the most vulnerable.
We are the children because we are also the most precious.

Palm Sunday 2014 in Pakistan. You are such a beautiful people, don't you know? May Peace be in Pakistan, India, and throughout South Asia. God bless us all.

A Church of Greater Things

A Faith of little things, that's us - a Church of greater things, that's us too.

Love in the truth - Realize in reality the Love that shines from Eternity and see Beauty reflected in the little things and love it back - embracing it all.

Love us All, darling Starshine - for in our smallness, in our needs - we can dream. There is beauty in every human hoping - and in our togetherness - strength in our common believing, it shall be well.

Smile and feel the radiance of a smile. Feel the warmth of human faith in believing, all shall be well... Learn to miss it - long to fill the skies above thy soul with it - serving with all thy heart.

Learn to look for thy happiness in the happiness of others. Dream two dreams, one for thy self and one for such as thy self - make them one: God is, and that is all!

Say to the sinner, O I love you anyways! - For in Christ, I hope all things for you - let us first remain in God and all things we shall through Him overcome - together, always together in Jesus Christ, the Lord.

We shall be great, O little Church, strong in spite of our littleness and despite our individual failings and our spiritual woundedness - forgiven - beyond reach of doubt - a thousand times over - and made whole by our God - out of love of us - yes, for love of All of us - together - so let us be one in this hope: Victory is won at the Cross! - once and forever - so let us be joined in this - just one belief, one victorious heart of prayer!

Say to the evils of this world, I know you now - so therefore, I shall seek to no longer understand you, O sin of the world, but shall have unfailing recourse to the everlasting Truth of my Savior and the reality of my God and Father to my heart - so leave us be, O Adversary of all the living souls - for I serve thee not - and leave my brothers and sisters alone - for I am their keeper.

Receive the Peace of the one Redeemer of Mankind - and know, O Christian, that thy gift belongs to all Nations - cherish all human community and embrace their very human hopes - weep for brokenness and be the salt that preserves - work for healing and be the light that leads - grow in Justice, shine in Love - live in present Memory of God and of each other - pray for thine enemies, give them hope - for they are restless - know their evil and abhor it - but become the freedom they never knew.

Fall and stand right up - and be chastened by thy failings - cling to thy faith, and do this without count - forgive as thou art forgiven - calling out to God for strength and forever trusting in Him - go discern the unfailing grace of the LORD in the darkness of thy soul and you shall know joy - Light in the darkness - and when you know, my darling, your interior skies shall be filled with stars, God with us - Come and see!

Develop a Marian character and you shall multiply this joy - strength unto the Morning.

The Separation of Church and State

No perfection without God

God made Religions many but the Waters that nourish them, God made one.

The LORD when He gifted with Free Will, the First Man, deigned to multiply his freedom - and secure his happiness forever, but caused Adam to grow only upward - unto Him - that He may know of the freedom of God and that God is his Freedom.

This was disrupted by the Devil (but not without the foreknowledge of God) and now we are, for our own safety and the forbearance of all human hope, exiled from our own Eden in a long darkness that is dark because the Truth to each our hearts is now veiled. But we are not without help.

- selah -

Wars of religion and the Remembrance they have - at such a great and terrible cost - afforded all our present generations, are not conflicts that are of the ordinary sense known to our Nations, nor can these Wars be contained by the Power of our States - these Wars, when they are allowed to break into our world and impose its will on the Peace of our Nations, are automatically wars of utter annihilation - their lust for violence, one that  burdens our need of Justice to such an extent that entire peoples lose sight of the Debt we must owe to the Memory of the lost and the fallen, who are our kin forever and responsibility under God as free Nations upon the earth and as such, one that only an act of Heaven - one short of tempting the LORD Himself, can bring to an end.

Religion is a requisite of the life of Man, through religion Man does Justice to God and God deigns to bless with truth, the faith He has sown in the Soul of every Man - the fruits of this intimate encounters from within the Soul of Man brings him to an understanding of Peace and this knowledge nurtures wisdom and the spirit of our humanity is made bright by it - all in its natural course, every variety of Religion musts produce fruits that withstand the darkness of time and the corruption of evil things; their strength, a necessary element of Nationhood, and their natural functioning, integral to the Peace of every Country.

Heaven and Earth can not be one Power (before the Last Day): To preclude the appearance of Wars of religion (and save our posterity from their unbearable burden of Justice) and to preserve the freedom of our religions, in the individual as well as in their necessary corporate exercises in human community, and the blessings of each its noble fruits necessary to the health and well-being of the spirit of our great and honorable Republic, it musts be necessary that Church and State are made distinct in their purpose and power and that their functions especially from within the State remain clear and separate from each other always.
---<--@

No religion shall be the State religion of the Republic nor shall the government require religion as a standard among themselves, whether elected or appointed, nor shall religion be a measure of the excellence of public service nor favored over each other in matters of State or through affinities, formal or informal, with any of the Offices Executive, Houses Legislative, Chambers Judiciary, Commissions Constitutional, and each their necessary Institutions and as a whole or through each their individual representations be given to transgress their equality in particular with each other being apart from the Powers and Purposes of the Republic State.

The government of the Republic shall reserve religious freedom as a distinct freedom granted to the exercise of individual choice exclusively and forever prohibit any form of grant within the State and among the religions that prevents or distorts the plurality, the fullness, the harmony, and depth of religious expression in the national community, that together enriches distinctly the human spirit of a common people - each their ageless wisdom strengthening the inherent Truth embodied by our Liberty through a unity in diversity that strengthen the freedoms integral to the functioning of our democracy and necessary to the well-being and civic virtue of a free and enlightened citizenry.

Therefore, religious prejudice, religious hatred, and the carrying on of the dishonors of the divisions that have marked with untold death and terrible suffering the memory of the past in all religions shall be the right or the province of no one.

All places of Religion shall be protected and preserved, all forms of prayer shall be allowed at all times to endure and persevere as a personal recourse - in private and public places together, religious equality and plurality and harmony being recognized and upheld by the government of the State - with neither fear, nor favor, nor prejudice - of or against any and all religions to their fullest expressions granted - save those who endanger these same freedoms and empower the past against which this Separation of Church and State has been established for the safety and progress of the life of the Nation and the Peace of the Republic that stands in its defense forever.

Thus, a Christian is to govern by the fruits of his or her religion and enriched by the common experience of the national community, establish by the virtue of its truth, him or herself in Public Service by a calling to serve all souls without distinction particularly in the State.

As such, the same degree of respect and courtesy of Republic Ideal and Tradition shall be required of faith traditions and their religions when they are likewise called to respond to the same life vocation to serve in the government of the State - to be human beings and citizens to each other alike - without any religious syncretism or hypocrisy but in fullness of truth; a faithful keeper and a loyal servant - bound to each other in peace and kinship by the freedoms that bind us together through all our generations, past, present and future, unto one Nation distinct among one great family of Nations - under God, the LORD, our one Sovereign.

For this is intended the Separation of Church and State - not to cause more confusion but to end it, not to make us vulnerable to the sins of the past, but to repent of it and, God-willing, be ever spared from a recurrence of their insufferable evil in our times and in every present time, preserved by the strength of human community and defended at all times by our Republic, prevailing as citizens together.

Salutation #174

(Holy Week 2013)

Dearest Starshine,
of the Christian communities
scattered like the stars - among all the stars -
spread across the nations of the children of Mankind
with peace and love, I salute you -

In His Sacred Humanity
Jesus Christ the Incarnate Word
deigned to show unto all mankind
the Face of the Father of all living souls,
the one God of all heaven and earth,
despite the nakedness of our humanity
that we may in our own suffering
utterly and completely identify
with the LORD's longing for our love.

In the terrible suffering of Jesus
in His Passion and death by Crucifixion
and in the desolation of the Crucified Christ
the LORD has chosen, for all our good,
even before our exile was begun,
to bear with all of our common humanity
the depths of our pain and tribulations in this life
shouldering with each of us, the cross of our sufferings
- even unto death, even an ignominious death on a lonely Cross -
that through the same Passion and Blood of Christ
God may bridge for each of us the dark and infinite chasm
of the original sin that stole all our generations away
from the True and Eternal Light of His Presence
and the glorious Eden of our perfect Peace
with God and with each other.

And in the glory of His Risen Person
Jesus Christ kept for each of us - His Holy Wounds -
to remind us, always to always - over and over and over -
through every faithful commemoration of Holy Mass
the infinite grace of His seven Sacraments,
and the presence of His Church here on earth,
of the wondrous power and unimaginable greatness
of God's fufilling love for all His creatures.

- selah -

The faith of our common baptism
gives us a share in the hope of this Victory,
the innermost life of our Christianity
being a constant celebration of Christ's love
- this mighty and mysterious Love -
that came at the heights of our unknowing
that even in the midst of all our un-loving
God may by His overcoming Love
save us all.

Alleluia, alleluia!
Truly, truly, how great is our God -
How majestic His mysteries,
how glorious His truths!

May the Holy Spirit bless each of us
with a renewed vigor of our Christian faith
that we may again live its glories
here on our earthly sojourn
for Christ and the peace of His Kingdom
at the approach of this
Holy Week 2013.

May the Blessed Virgin Mary,
Queen of all our hearts, pray for us.
And may our Lady ever accompany us
unto the completion of God's work
in each our lives, as she did Her Son.

Amen.
---<--@

O my Jesus,
zealous for souls,
thirsting for the love of mankind.

Come my Jesus
be Thou the God of my heart
and accomplish in me Thy will of peace.

Habemus Papam!

Mabuhay Holy Father Francis!

Let us pray to the LORD a hymn of thanksgiving - alleluia to God -
a great song of praise to the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ,
in humble adoration of His Son, our Savior - Emmanuel;
a people grateful for the guidance of the Holy Spirit
for the Good Shepherd He has raised among us - and for us -
to lead us back - across our nations - to the path of peace
unto oneness with our one God - the fullness of the new age -
and the peace of Jesus Christ to all people of good will.

Salutation #170

Every gift of life... is wrought in love
and every love of life... is wrought in light
for the one light of life is... Jesus Christ the Lord.

(Christmas 2012)

MAY every Christmas bring us peace;
the beginnings of peace which is peace,
the workings of peace which is peace,
and the fruits of peace which is peace.

Because Christmas means -

I love you.

- selah -

So may all be in this love sheltered
and be brought forth anew each and every year
that all may through this love know in the truth
the spirit of every Christmas season
which is peace.

May all be at peace.
May all know the peace.

And may this peace be the peace
that was wrought in our world
by the Prince of Peace
which is Jesus Christ the Lord
that it may continue to serve
to bring our humanity forth
from darkness into the
one Light of God
everlasting.

May our journeys in this life
through Christmas be fulfilled
in the LORD, our God -
the Father, the Son,
and the Holy Spirit,
alleluia, alleluia,
AMEN.
---<--@

Happy Christmas to us all!

Peace be among the nations - and -
good will to all men and women of peace.

May we never be bereft of the light of God's peace.

Christ chose to be born in a place of love
surrounded with nothing else but love,
did He not, darling Starshine?

For the giving is the gift.

Is not our Lord and Savior an awesome God?

Salutation #137

so that they may all be one,
as You, Father, are in Me and I in You,
that they also may be in Us,
that the world may believe
that You sent me.

- John 17: 21
---<--@

(Never Again!)

Jesus Christ
belongs to all peoples,
His Peace unto all nations.

Unto Christians
and non-Christians alike
Jesus Christ is made known
for all human hearts desire Him;
the Savior of all Mankind.

Neither religious prejudice
nor hatred nor War's ambition
will undo the truth of the Gospel;
the Peace of Christ is for all!

Never again War.
Never again division!

- selah -

Strengthening the Nation
means strengthening the peace
and strengthening the peace
means strengthening the Church.

We are not the Church of the past age.
Nor are we the Church of the new age.
We are the Church of every age!

And in this present age,
at the turning of the Celestial Season -
we must as the stars, and with the stars,
shine with the Light of Christ
bearing His Peace unto all nations
and good will unto the ends of the earth.

Lest we forget.
Lest we forget!

Salutation #114

(Easter 2012)

LET the depths of the earth
and the heights of heaven proclaim!

LET all of God's creatures rejoice
and the souls of all living beings exclaim!

Today is the day!

Jesus Christ the Lord is Risen!

Our Faith became. His Love overcame.

And Hope received from God our Father
her wings and her crown
.

Glory to God, Glory to God, Glory to God -

Alleluia to the LORD on high!

Salutation #113

Those who live to nurture
the tree of the desolation of war
- shall certainly eat of its fruit -
and the fruits of war is plain
and bitter forever.

Therefore,
let us return now to the native peace of our nations -
that we may eat of the fruit that sustains our humanity;
that we may be a support to each other as citizens;
that we may be a blessing to each other as nations;
that we may reflect the glory of the God heaven on earth.

(The Tree of the Desolation of War)

THERE WAS ONCE
an orchard filled with trees
of many kinds.

All of the trees in the orchard
bore good fruit save for one.

There was a tree
at the center of the orchard
that bore no fruit at all.

It was the largest tree of all.

It was also the most ancient of all.

It's great and lofty branches
overshadowed a third of the orchard.

It blocked out much of the sky.

And it drew up nourishment
from the soil meant for other trees.

Now,
the number of trees in the orchard was fixed
by the owner from the beginning.

To each tree he assigned
from among all of his laborers in the field,
a custodian.

For the owner had much property to tend
and not enough workers.

To each custodian in the orchard,
the owner assigned a specific yield.

And for this yield he gave a specified time.

He then left to find more workers.

- selah -

The trees are our nations

The great tree at the center of the orchard
is the desolation of war.

The custodians are the angels of the nations
who are the keepers of our sacred remembrances.

The owner is the LORD,
the one Sovereign of all nations.

And we are the workers.

But the custodian of the desolation of war
is the great serpent of faded Eden.

And he bids us
- constantly -
not to tend to our trees.

At the very door of our hearts,
the enemy of all human nations
calls us not to serve
and to commit adultery
against our own humanity.

Time came
and a great darkness fell upon our nations:

The great cycle of the one celestial season is turning:
Winter now approaches our time on earth.

Let us then work
to complete our own remembrances
with autumn leaves shed
not so much for winter's sake
but for the spring.

Let us turn away from the darkness.

Let us tend to each our own trees.

And bear the good fruit of repentance.

Let us fight for the Causes
- that have forever established us -
a free and human nation:

Sacred Life, Law, Justice, and Benignity.

Let us compete in virtue
- as citizens to each other -
and produce for God and for each other
a yield of good works, ten-fold,
a hundred-fold, even a thousand-fold!

Starve out the serpent, O my nation!

And let our generations prosper far into their years...

Born to the Morning:
This is our land and Now is our time.

Because now is the time for peace.

This is our time.
---<--@

It is human to fight for right causes. It is not human to fight against Justice.

It is human to know when to stop fighting. It is not human to forsake the cause of Peace.

It is human to hope for self and for others. It is not human to despair of either self or of others.

It is human to fight for love. It is not human to fight for hate.

For when we fight for love, we defend. When we fight for hate, we only fight.

Salutation #79

The freedom of Man
and the freedom of Angels
are not unlike each other!

Therefore,
Let us always remember that the liberty
of all the nations of the children of Mankind
is established not for the taking but for the giving -
for it is in giving that we receive;
it is in giving that all Men are set free.

- selah -

(Religion in the Public Domain)

Don't be a hypocrite.

Don't be afraid to say it - "Merry Christmas!"

How can we respect other religions if we can not respect our own?

Remember,
a genuine respect for the power of faith - in any person -
only comes from a genuine experience of religion.

So if you are afraid to practice your own - for any reason,
how can you hope to understand
what substance of truth there is to be had
in the exercise of your own faith?

If you do not understand
- with a knowledge of the truth -
the blessings bestowed upon you by your own religion,
how can you understand the hope
that other people must invest
in the free exercise of theirs
however different they may be to you?

There is a place for religion in the public domain -
for so long as (1) it does compete,
one against the other - to the confusion of many,
for a position of dominance in the civic sphere;
for so long as (2) the Spirit of God is given a free hand
to work the work of completion He intends in all human hearts ;
for so long as (3) the spirit of War is denied entry into the heart of our nations;
for it shall be natural for all truth to come together -
not so that all things may be the same - conformity without diversity,
but so that the purpose of God in all things may be fulfilled.

Merry Christmas!
---<--@

Can you see through the cartoon -

If you love humanity, say to thy own soul:

Drink deeply, O my heart, we have much to do...
---<--@

Think about it -

"People who have a religion should be glad, for not everyone has the gift of believing in heavenly things." (Anne Frank, July 6, 1944)

Take note of how my Anne described the activity of faith in religion - a gift.

Sinag Tala

Salutation #71

Again the LORD's messenger called to Abraham from heaven and said:

"I swear by myself, declares the LORD, that because you acted as you did in not withholding from me your beloved son,

I will bless you abundantly and make your descendants as countless as the stars of the sky and the sands of the seashore;

your descendants shall take possession of the gates of their enemies, and in your descendants all the nations of the earth shall find blessing - all this because you obeyed my command."

- Genesis 22: 15-18

(An Abrahamic Prayer)

LORD God,
We humbly implore Thee:

help all Thy Muslims,
help all Thy Jews,
help all Thy Christians,
help us in all Thy nations, dear God -
help us to find each other in the dark.

Incline each our hearts
unto Thee, O LORD,
our one True Light.
Refresh our spirits!

May we be as a people
after Thy own Heart, O LORD,
all Thy numberless stars,
guided by the light of Thy Peace
and blessed by Thy will of good
for all Mankind.

Forsake us not, O LORD,
lest we perish in the darkness.

Fulfill in us that promise
Thou swore to our Father Abraham,
that promise Thou hast made of old,
O LORD, that Thou shalt lead us ever onward,
that Thou shalt guide us
toward the building of a better world
for all Thy nations.

By the light of Thy own faithfulness,
O LORD, bind us together
in the unity of Thy own Truth.

Establish Thy Holy Presence in our hearts
as a revelation upon the nations,
that Thou art God, O LORD,
He Who is, the LORD!
And let this be as the dawning
of Thy glory upon the earth.

AMEN.
---<--@

Therefore,
may our understanding of Peace
- be blessed with abundance -
by the one LORD of our nation
and of all nations - the God of Peace.

May our will be directed by God
to the truth that we are one nation,
- brothers and sisters -
in the singular labor of peace
and peace which brings
true prosperity, happiness,
and the realization of our nationhood.

May our common salutation of Peace
be a reflection of the fullness of this knowledge
in our heart of hearts - that -
as children of the Promise,
we are all born to that one promise of old
that God made to our Father Abraham
that we shall be a blessing to our nations.

Let us be as a light unto each other,
ever as the numberless stars - that -
in the darkness of these times,
shines steadfastly the way forward
into a new age for our one Filipino nation
and for our one family of nations
- a new age of Peace.

Salaam. Shalom. Peace.

Under our one Republic sky,
my brothers and sisters of the Promise,
we are but one House - one lineage of victory -
for this House doth serve the LORD,
O my nation - forever!

Catholic Lay Spirituality in the 21st Century

"Duc in altum!" - "Set forth into the deep!"

- Luke 5: 4

This is the Century of the Holy Spirit -

Adoramus te, Christe, et benedicemus tibi; quia per sanctam Crucem tuam redemisti mundum - We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your holy Corss, you have redeemed the world.

1. To be able to articulate and defend the faith of the Roman Catholic Church:

  • To strive ceaselessly to hear ever more clearly God's Word, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, taking that Word to heart and shaping one's life according to it.
  • To speak about the faith and even instruct, strengthen, and motivate others, not only non-believers, but fellow Christians as well and to manifest Christ's message by words and deeds and to communicate His grace to the world.
  • To lead others - not only non-believers but fellow Christians - to a deeper faith, not simply by our words but also by our deeds, making the Gospel known and more holy through the witness of an exemplary life.
2. To be appreciative of the true value of all of God's creation:
  • To learn the deepest meaning and value of all creation, and how to relate it to the praise and glory of God.
  • To be appreciative of our own humanity and the mysteries of being human: the body, feeling, emotion, love, sex, work, play, community celebration, art, science, the aspirations of the human mind and the longings of the human heart.
  • To work to see that created goods are more fittingly distributed among men and women and in our own way lead to general progress in human and Christian liberty.
  • To establish firmly in our hearts the kingdom of God wherein all creation itself will be delivered out of the slavery to corruption and into the freedom of the sons and daughters of God.
3. To be zealous in building a better world for all men, women and children:
  • To struggle to free ourselves from the value system of our society - whatever it may be - in order to judge and act by the justice of God and the norms of the Gospel.
  • To bear witness to the power and glory of Christian love for the inspiration of others.
  • To promote the unity of all Christians and dialogue with non-Christians and non-believers.
  • To be dedicated in a special way, with authentic mercy, to the defense of freedom, to social justice and peace, and above all the defense of human dignity, to remedying the different forms of suffering, to relieving the misery of those suffering injustice, working assiduously to change the institutions of society that generate suffering, whether it be economic, psychic, social, moral, or spiritual.
  • To pursue a social order marked by justice, peace, and freedom for each human being, regardless of race, sex, age, or other distinction and to imbue culture and human activities with moral value.

Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary

"A Christian without prayer is like a soldier without a rifle."

My brothers and sisters of the Promise, I have always stressed both the importance of prayer as well as the universality of prayer.

Prayer is as necessary to the soul of Man as breathing is to his body.

There is no Man on earth - past, present, or future - who, having seen creation in a constant state of prayer, has never thought to look inward and gaze into the depths of that irresistible Silence within himself without asking the questions he knows in his heart of hearts he may only address to God.

No human heart is fool enough to resist the power of prayer. Indeed, all of creation around us - seen and unseen - exists in a constant state of prayer.

Therefore, no Man who has ever existed, exists or shall ever exist may ever truly claim to have never prayed.

For prayer is a common human need. It is an attitude of the human heart.

In a faithful Republic, prayer is protected and this protection extends especially to all places of holy worship - temples, churches, synagogues, and mosques.

Prayer is the first thing. It is also the last thing.

- selah -

Brothers and sisters in Christ the Lord, the Roman Catholic feast we celebrate today is perhaps, the only feast that celebrates the power of prayer. It is significant in our times in that, it has the power to bring our nation into a state of more perfect unity.

As nations, we have been formed in battle - the history of the feast of the Holy Rosary is witness to this fact - War is the reason for which we now exist as nations.

As nations, we have fought each other for so long it has become difficult to accept that Peace, not War, is the Cause for which we have always existed as nations.

War gave us our fiery births. But God is our beginning as well as our last end.

I bid us to reflect on this and to also reflect on our Rosary of Hope. October is after all, the month of the Most Holy Rosary.

In this new age of peace, the Rosary will take on a new significance. It shall serve to combat the greatest nemesis of the Queen of Peace - the beast of War.

So let us honor our Lady by learning to be strong in Christ, our Savior, and let us begin this by a persistent, almost suicidal bent on Christian prayer.

After the omnipotent and invulnerable prayer of Holy Mass, let us cling to the humble, trusting and thoughtful recitation of the Rosary of our Lady as a choice weapon in the spiritual combat.

Let us become proficient in its use!

Sunday Evenings

Good evening, Philippines - mabuhay!

Well, we're four days into the first of the four "ber" months. If you are familiar with this, you are Filipino. We have the longest Christmas season ever!

We are indeed, a people of expectations, are we not? It's true. And we have every right to have these expectations. It is a reflection of our hope for better things and for better days.

If there is a reason why we are a people upon the earth, it is these hopes. And we keep these hopes close to us every Yuletide season because Peace is the reason for the Christmas season. And this has been so since that first Christmas day 2011 years ago.

The Angels say so and we now know so - Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace!

I do not expect this will change.

Now, I want us to remember this - here and now - because Christmas 2011 is the Christmas before Christmas 2012. Peace is the reason for every Christmas season!

- selah -

My brothers and sisters in Christ the Lord, let us work to make this Christmas 2011 a very good one - for all our nations. Most especially, let us pray God bless the Holy Land with Peace.

Let us extend our hearts and our hands to those who are affected by the presence of War here in our own Country and everywhere, especially in the Middle East.

If any of you can make the pilgrimage to Bethlehem this Christmas, please do so. And do not forget to go to Jerusalem and pray God bless our world with Peace.

So let us work for all of this as we continue on - together - right into the new working week... Everybody have a great week ahead!

The Greatest of Marian Knights

Yesterday was the feast day of one of the principal Saints in my life, Saint Maximilian Mary Kolbe.

You will notice that I take my name from Saint Maximilian.

This is so because I have a great devotion to this Saint of God. To Saint Maximilian, I owe much of my Roman Catholic formation.

In many ways, he is to me the greatest of all Marian Knights.

He and my darling Annelies Marie share a connection in my life that have proven to be more than mere coincidence.

He is the patron Saint of the suffering addict and refuge of the recovering addict.

My own Marian character was taught to me by Saint Maximilian Mary Kolbe.

Glorified be God forever in all His Angels and in all His Saints!

The Feast of the Assumption

Today is the feast day of the Assumption of our Lady.

It is the focal Marian feast that reveals through the life of our Lady the immense joy of our Christian faith.

It is equivalent to the Transfiguration in the life of our Lord, Jesus Christ, in that both of these are a preparatory experience in the Christian life.

Simply put, a Marian character in a Roman Catholic soul multiplies joy.

This Marian joy lends its strength to Christian endurance. It prepares our hearts to live the hope of ordinary time.

Now, if there is anything our Lady desires of thee, O my Philippines - it is thy own heart at prayer.

You know this in your own hearts, my fellow Filipino compatriots, that God has set a labor before our hearts and a challenge for all the world to repent unto Peace and forsake War.

For these are defining times indeed, we are living in a transition from age to age.

Prayer is a battle we can not refuse to fight.

But our prayers can not ascend to the unity of the LORD, O my nation, if War is in our heart.

- selah -

We have to learn to pray as a nation:

We have to learn to desire what a nation desires.
We have to forsake the divisions that have prevented our unity.
We have to let go of the bitterness that have fed these animosities.
We have to stand up against the despair that have shackled our dreaming.
We have to see our generations through this midnight darkness
ever by the light of our faith in God and in each other as citizens together.

We have to understand -

A nation that prays as one, stays as one.
And a nation at one with its own truth is a nation at peace.

Verily, as a nation, we can not be anything else but one.

So let us pray to God for the gift of prayer for our nation. Let us desire it from God as our Lady desires it from us now so that in time we may all profess to the LORD as one the truth that the prayer of the Philippines is Peace.

Closing Reflection -

The common religion of every Man is peace - it is that mysterious desire dwelling deep within all of us to be able to somehow return to the happiness and perfection of that one common belonging written in each our heart; the Peace of the LORD, the one God of All creation.
